ANALISIS CLIMATE INJUSTICE DALAM MIGRASI PENDUDUK AKIBAT EROSI TEPI SUNGAI DI BHOLA ISLAND, BANGLADESH

Abstract: Climate change has increased the risk of population displacement in vulnerable regions, including Bhola Island, Bangladesh, where persistent riverbank erosion threatens local communities. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of climate injustice in population migration caused by riverbank erosion in Bhola Island. The research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach and secondary data analysis. The study applies the climate injustice perspective to examine inequalities between those who contribute to climate change and those who bear its impacts. The findings show that the people of Bhola Island are forced to migrate due to climate-related environmental changes despite Bangladesh's relatively small contribution to global emissions. This study concludes that migration in Bhola Island represents a manifestation of climate injustice reflected in the imbalance between emissions responsibility and climate impacts.

Abstrak: Perubahan iklim telah meningkatkan risiko perpindahan penduduk di berbagai wilayah rentan, termasuk Bhola Island, Bangladesh, yang mengalami erosi tepi sungai secara berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis fenomena climate injustice dalam migrasi penduduk akibat erosi tepi sungai di Bhola Island. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus dan analisis data sekunder. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan perspektif climate injustice yang menyoroti ketimpangan antara pihak yang berkontribusi terhadap perubahan iklim dan pihak yang menanggung dampaknya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Bhola Island mengalami migrasi akibat perubahan iklim meskipun Bangladesh memiliki kontribusi yang relatif kecil terhadap emisi global. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa migrasi di Bhola Island merupakan manifestasi climate injustice yang tercermin dari ketimpangan antara kontribusi emisi dan beban dampak perubahan iklim.
